JP  Duffy IV, ESQ

J.P. Duffy is a globally recognized arbitration practitioner who has been acknowledged as one of the 10 “Most Highly Regarded” international arbitration partners in the Americas by Global Arbitration Review’s WWL.

J.P. manages all aspects of the international arbitration process, from strategic clause drafting, to lead merits and hearing counsel, through award enforcement and recovery, and represents clients across a range of industries in international arbitrations conducted under all major arbitral rules, including those of the ICC, AAA/ICDR, LCIA, HKIAC, SIAC, DIAC, JAMS, ICSID and UNCITRAL in the United States, Europe, Asia, Africa, and Latin America.

He has extensive emerging market dispute resolution experience and, prior to joining Bracewell, practiced as a foreign legal consultant in the Dubai office of an international law firm. His international arbitration practice has a strong geographic focus on the MENA region, the Indian sub-continent, Sub-Saharan Africa and East Asia, with a focus on the life sciences, defense, energy, technology, and franchising sectors. In addition to his counsel work, J.P. is regularly appointed as an arbitrator in commercial disputes, and is listed on the arbitrator rosters of prominent arbitral institutions around the globe, including specialized panels such as the AAA-ICDR Life Sciences Arbitrator panel. J.P. also handles arbitration-related litigation around the globe, such as judicial interim relief applications, and multijurisdictional award enforcement and recovery proceedings, and is qualified in New York, England & Wales and the Dubai International Financial Centre Courts.

Before entering private practice, J.P. served as a law clerk to the Honorable Thomas C. Platt in the Eastern District of New York.
