Fabian Limon is an associate in the Cannabis Law practice group at Greenspoon Marder LLP. He focuses his practice on legal and business issues impacting cannabis-related businesses. From entity formation and compliance to facility design and zoning, Mr. Limon advises cannabis companies whether they are a legacy operator trying to enter the legal market or a multi-state cannabis operator trying to expand. He also represents cannabis businesses and individuals at every level of the cannabis supply chain. In addition, Mr. Limon serves as general counsel to cannabis business owners on day-to-day regulatory advice.
Mr. Limon has nurtured an extensive network in the Illinois and California cannabis industry, representing entrepreneurial clients. He has advised cultivators, processors, distributors, and dispensaries to apply for and obtain marijuana licenses throughout the United States. Mr. Limon has drafted cannabis business plans, facility plans, inventory plans, security plans, recall plans, standard operating procedures, and other state-required compliance documents. As an attorney in the cannabis space, Mr. Limon dedicates himself to understanding every aspect of a plant-touching business. As such, he has worked in a licensed cannabis cultivation facility apprenticing under one of the best growers in Palm Springs, California.
Mr. Limon is committed to advancing the cannabis industry to provide more equitable ownership to those most affected by the war on drugs. He is an advocate for legislative reform that prioritizes opportunities for individuals from the legacy market. Mr. Limon also works with social equity advocacy groups to bring more diversity and talent to the cannabis industry.
Prior to joining Greenspoon Marder, Mr. Limon worked as an associate attorney for a boutique cannabis business firm in Chicago. He represented clients in corporate governance and capital formation advice on private securities offerings on behalf of privately-held cannabis companies. Mr. Limon has also worked on investments, joint ventures, and mergers and acquisitions. He was also an associate attorney at a large international law firm and a boutique litigation firm. Mr. Limon gained substantial experience in labor and employment law counseling employers on corporate transactions and all aspects of employee benefits law, focusing on retirement and welfare plan design, qualification and compliance; benefit claims and litigation; and executive compensation.
Mr. Limon earned his Master of Laws in Employee Benefits and his Juris Doctor from the UIC John Marshall Law School. During law school, he was a member of the Latino Law Student Association, Hispanic National Bar Association, Trial Advocacy and Moot Court. Mr. Limon also received his Bachelor of Science from the University of Illinois – Urbana Champaign in Political Science.
Before becoming a Cannabis attorney, Mr. Limon served as a police officer in a suburban police department. His experience as a police officer helped him better understand the draconian war on drugs and the security infrastructure a cannabis company requires.
