After developing my law practice in the areas of intellectual property and entertainment law, I became fascinated by the way we could increase access to justice through the use of legal technology while working on my dissertation project for a master's degree in International Film Business. For my project, I invented the design and business model for an app that gives film students and early-career filmmakers access to legal counsel fast and free while still paying lawyers at competitive rates.
Today, I help other lawyers harness the power and potential of advancements in tech as the Head of Legal Innovation at Gavel. Gavel is the automation infrastructure for the modern, scalable law practice. With the ability to automate your own custom Word templates as well as PDF forms with as many complex conditionals and repeating items as you need, the way we practice law and deliver legal services is changing and we must learn, grow, and adapt to keep pace. I help lawyers do just that by delivering CLEs, webinars, workshops, and other content to share insights and practical, real-world examples of how Gavel can be used to scale your solo or small practice and diversify the way you deliver legal services to clients.
I also created the first-ever Gavel Certification Course with my co-creator Megan Sawtelle, which trains lawyers in the basic, intermediate, and advanced aspects of the platform and provides them with a certificate and badge upon the successful completion of each level.
In the past, I built automations for other lawyers as a freelancer with gigLAW. I also hosted retreats for female founders and high achievers where we got together in beautiful locations around the world to plan out the year and grow our businesses with like-minded entrepreneurs.
I also previously helped Scottish legal tech startup Valla amplify their presence and create partnerships with charities and other organizations across the UK as their Business Development/Partner Engagement Executive.
Finally, I served on active duty in the US military for four years as a Boatswain's Mate Second Class Petty Officer in the US Coast Guard in Puerto Rico and Alaska.
90% of legal services will be delivered online by 2030. Don’t get left behind as the industry goes through rapid shifts. Client expectations have changed, and legal consumers have become accustomed to having virtual meetings, paying bills onlin...
