Barrett Avigdor works with corporate law departments and law firms around the world to help them to meet the needs of their businesses and clients and to attract and retain top talent. She helps to build highly effective teams by assessing organizational structures and using recognized assessments and interviews to recommend alignment of lawyers to roles that maximize their strengths and support the mission of the organization. Barrett is also an executive coach whose particular focus is helping rising executives realize their career potential. She brings more than 25 years of experience as a senior leader, manager and executive, lawyer, recruiter and coach. Certified by the College of Executive Coaching, she works with individuals and with teams to help them to achieve their professional goals and perform to their maximum potential.
Barrett is also the Managing Director-Latin America of Major, Lindsey & Africa, the world’s most prominent executive search and consulting firm focused on placement of lawyers. In this role, she conducts senior level searches on behalf of corporate law departments in a wide range of industries. Barrett is based in the firm's San Diego office.
Prior to joining Major, Lindsey & Africa, Barrett served as in-house counsel for Accenture, a Fortune 500 global technology and outsourcing company. While at Accenture, she served as Director of Legal Talent Strategy where she created and implemented programs that enhanced the productivity and engagement of 430+ lawyers in the global legal group. She also led Accenture’s Latin American legal team as well as global teams of lawyers supporting the outsourcing practice and the Financial Services and Communications and High Tech service groups. In addition, she established and led a legal process outsourcing service center in Mauritius for Accenture. Barrett is the co-author of the best-seller, "What Happy Working Mothers Know" (Wiley 2009). She speaks frequently on the subject of happiness and high performance as well as other subjects related to career success.
A Wisconsin native, she graduated magna cum laude from the University of Wisconsin-Madison College and received her law degree from the University of Chicago.
