This CLE will cover the critical ethics issues surrounding starting, and running, a law practice. The CLE will highlight the most common issues that arise when starting a law practice including how to get paid (Rule 1.5); the management of Trust/IOLTA Accounts (Rule 1.15); the need for malpractice insurance; how to navigate conflicts (Rules 1.7 and 1.9); and how to ethically terminate an attorney-client relationship (Rule 1.16).
The presentation will include concrete examples to help illustrate how each of these Rules operates in practice.
