There is great debate going on in Israel over separation of powers. There are those in the New Israeli government who claim that Israel needs to reign-in its Supreme Court, to make it more like the American system. While the American legal system is greatly respected abroad, including in Israel, it is not necessarily appropriate for every parliamentary system. The debate in Israel over separation of powers is a reflection of our own history in this country as to the role of our courts, vis-à-vis, the executive, legislative and administrative branches. We will explore some of these issues.

Kaila Kimchi, LLB is co-presenter with Mr. Rieders.
