Peter F. McLaughlin, Esq. is senior counsel with Foley & Lardner LLP, where he is a member of its Privacy, Security & Information Management and Information Technology & Outsourcing Practices. He is also a member of the Health Care Industry Team and Privacy Litigation Task Force. As the former global privacy director and assistant general counsel of a Fortune 20 health care company, Mr. McLaughlin has specific experience in data privacy and security issues relevant to the health care sector as well as international privacy compliance. In 2010 and 2011, the Legal 500 recognized his technology work in the area of data protection and privacy. A member of the American Bar Association (ABA) and currently vice chair of the ABA's Information Security Committee, he previously served for four years as co-chair of the Privacy Security & Data Management subcommittee for its Business Law Section. Mr. McLaughlin frequently speaks and writes on data privacy and security issues.
