Telehealth: Where We Were, Where We Are, And Where We Are Headed (06/02/2020)

Program Number: 30148 Presenter: Jody Erdfarb, Esq., Laura Koman, Esq., Sunny J. Levine, Esq., Tamara Alexander Lynch, Esq.

Over the last few years, patients and providers have continued to turn to telehealth as a convenient and efficient health care delivery model. However, long-standing legal barriers—including limitations and restrictions on reimbursement, technology options, and multijurisdictional practice capabilities—have inhibited widespread adoption. During the COVID-19 pandemic, federal and state authorities have relaxed many of the legal restrictions impacting telehealth and as a result, there has been a significant increase in telehealth utilization for both COVID-19 and non-COVID-19 services. In this webinar, we will review the legal issues confronted by telehealth providers, before, during and after the COVID-19 crisis. Attendees will learn about: • obstacles to multijurisdictional practice (licensing, telehealth practice standards) • common corporate structuring options • fraud and abuse pitfalls • reimbursement mechanisms • COVID-19 temporary changes
